Reciprocating Air Compressor: Main Parts and Working:
Reciprocating Air Compressor: A Reciprocating air compressor is a device, which sucks in air at atmospheric pressure and increasing its pressure by compressing it. If the air is compressed in a single cylinder it is called as a single stage compressor and if the air is compressed in two or more cylinders then it is called a multi-stage compressor.
In a two-stage compressor the air is sucked from atmosphere and compressed in the first cylinder called the low-pressure cylinder and the compressed air then passes through air inter cooler where it's temperature is reduced, and the air is then passed into the second cylinder where it is further compressed and their further goes to the air reservoir where it is stored.
The compressed air is stored in an air reservoir, which is provided with a pressure gauge and an automatic cut-off.
A Reciprocating air compressor consists of temperature tappings to measure the difference in temperature. and these temperature readings are displayed on the digital indicators and it used to measure speed with the help of RPM indicators.

Reciprocating Air Compressor Working:
A Reciprocating air compressor used to suck the air through the suction valve by moving the piston towards down ward direction(Bottom Dead Center), and the air gets entered into the cylinder and this air increased to high pressure by moving the piston towards the top dead center and supplied to the storage tank to store init. the storage tank is provided with the pressure gauge and temperature indicator for safety purpose.

Cylinder:
A cylinder is provided to slide the piston inside it for suction and compression.
Piston:
A Piston is used to Supply the required amount of air in to the cylinder and compress the air in it.
Inlet valve:
This is provided on the top of the cylinder to allow the air from atmosphere when the piston moves in down ward direction.
Discharge valve:
This is provided to supply the pressurized air into the storage tank.
Storage tank:
This is the used to store the pressurized air init.
Pressure Gauge:
It is provided on the tank to indicate the pressure of air present init.
Temperature indicator:
This is used to indicate the temperature of air inside the tank.
