Difference between CAD and CAM:

There are two main types of computer-aided design (CAD): computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) and computer-aided engineering (CAE).

Computer-aided engineering (CAE) software helps you to simulate how a part will behave under different conditions. CAM, on the other hand, is the use of computers to control manufacturing processes, such as those used in machining and fabrication. 

CAD software is used to create digital models of objects, which can then be used to generate CNC machine code. CAM software is used to convert this code into tool paths that can be interpreted by CNC machines.
