Difference between Flooded type evaporator and dry expansion type evaporator
Difference between Flooded type evaporator and dry expansion type evaporator:
Flooded Type Evaporator:
- The rate of heat transfer is more in flooded type evaporator than dry type.
- Flooded type evaporator has a complex design.
- The size of the flooded evaporator is larger than dry type.
- It required more space to install this evaporator.
- It required more liquid refrigerant than dry type evaporator.
- With the help of a float chamber, the liquid refrigerant is supplied into the drum of an evaporator.
- Flooded type evaporator is used for high capacity systems.
Dry Expansion Type Evaporator:
- The rate of heat transfer is less in dry type evaporator compared to flooded type evaporator.
- Dry type evaporator is easy to design.
- It required less space than flooded type to install.
- It required less liquid refrigerant comparatively to the flooded type evaporator.
- Using a capillary tube controls the supply of liquid refrigerant.
- This evaporator is used for less capacity systems.
