Difference between jet condensers and surface condensers
Difference between jet condensers and surface condensers: In this article we will learn about the difference between jet condensers and surface condensers. the detailed explanation about jet condensers and surface condensers difference is as follows:
Jet Condensers:
- In Jet Condensers Cooling water get in contact/mix with the hot steam to condensate the steam.
- Jet condenser required a Low amount of water for circulation.
- Due to the steam and water comes in contact with each other impurities may present in it, so they cannot be used again.
- Jet condensers are less useful for high capacity plants.
- Maintenance is low.
- Easy in design/construction.
- Less cost in installation.
- To pump water for circulation power used is less.
- Space used for this type of condenser is less.
Surface Condensers:
- In Surface Condensers cooling water does not get in contact/mix with the hot steam to condensate the steam.
- Surface condensers required a Large amount of water is for circulation.
- Due to non-contacting of water and steam it does not contains any impurities, so it can be reused again.
- Surface condensers are highly used for high capacity plants.
- Maintenance is high.
- This design is a little complex.
- It is high in cost.
- To pump water for circulation power used is more.
- Space used for it is more.
