Difference between the Centrifugal and Axial Flow Compressor?
Difference between the Centrifugal and Axial Flow Compressor.
Centrifugal Compressor:
- In Centrifugal Compressor the air flows in the radial direction.
- The pressure ratio gained is 4.5.
- This is compact for the unit of given pressure ratio.
- It required less torque at Starting
- It is simple and Cheap in construction.
- It can get up to 400 bar in delivery pressure.
- It has more flexible during operation.
- About 80% of thermal efficiency has occurred.
- For multistage compressor it is less suitable.
Axial Flow Compressor:
- In this the flow is in Axial direction.
- The pressure ratio is gained about 1.2.
- This is less compact for a given pressure ratio.
- It required more torque at starting.
- It is complex and costly in construction.
- It can get up to 20 bar in delivery pressure.
- It is Less flexible during the operation.
- About 88% of thermal efficiency has occurred.
- It is more suitable for the multistage compressor.
