About Heat Reaction and Adiabatic Flame temperature

Heat Reaction:

  • This is the process of heat adjustment, that it required to add or remove the amount of heat at the time of chemical reaction.
  • This is done due to the presence of all the substance that should be involved at the same temperature.
  • If there is the addition of heat required then it is said to be positive and the reaction is called Endothermic.
  • If there is heat rejected it is said to be negative and the reaction is called Exothermic.


Adiabatic Flame Temperature:

  • Adiabatic flame temperature is known as when there is temperature attained by the product of combustion.
  • The work transfer is in the absence or there is a change in K.E and P.E  this is due to the Adiabatic condition process.
  • Due to heat loss and incomplete combustion, the temperature of the product is less than the adiabatic combustion temperature at the actual practice.

Salient Features:

  • The maximum temperature can be attained by the air supplied theoretically and the reaction causes in adiabatic combustion.
  • If there is an air-fuel ratio increase then there is a temperature decrease.
  • There is an excess amount of air is used to maintain the adiabatic flame temperature.
