Thermal conductivity of solids, gases and liquids
Solids:
Due to transfer of free electrons and lattice vibration heat conduction occurs. In some metals like pure type the heat conduction is more effectively due to moving of free electrons in single direction. Heat energy is transfer from high temperature to low temperature.
Gases:
Due to more space between electrons, they move freely. Due to fast moving molecules the amount of heat transfer will be more compared to solids and liquids. As the molecules velocity increases the transfer of heat is also increases.
Liquids:
The mechanism of heat conduction is similar to the gases but in it the molecules are slightly packed. They move slowly compared with gases. The amount of energy transfer is always lies between gases and solids.
